Student-led nonprofit at the University of Utah
Engineering Graduate Student Council
Advancing graduate engineering education through representation, community, responsible stewardship, and student success.
Mission
Supporting the people behind graduate engineering.
EGSC exists to advance graduate engineering education at the University of Utah. Its constitutional mission centers on a collaborative academic and research environment, strong graduate programs, and the success, well-being, scholarly growth, and professional development of engineering graduate students.
Build Community
Create spaces where graduate students can share concerns, find support, and work across departments.
Strengthen Programs
Bring student perspectives into conversations that shape graduate education and research culture.
Advance Success
Support scholarly, professional, and personal development for engineering graduate students.
Work
What EGSC is built to do.
The constitution establishes EGSC as a student-led organization with transparent governance, student representation, and responsible use of resources.
Represent Students
Program representatives and officers connect graduate student perspectives with the Executive Board and General Assembly.
Convene the Assembly
Members attend meetings, make motions, participate in debate, and vote on the business reserved to the Assembly.
Steward Funds
The Finance Committee and Board manage budgets, appropriations, reports, and reimbursements through adopted financial controls.
Grow Programs
Committees and volunteers support governance, development, student success, and other programs approved by the membership.
Governance
Student voice with nonprofit accountability.
General Assembly
The Assembly is the membership body. It elects and removes leaders, amends governing documents, establishes standing committees, adopts general appropriations, and serves as the final authority on constitutional interpretation.
Executive Board
The Board is the corporation's board of directors and manages organizational affairs except for powers reserved to the Assembly. It reports activities and organizational status at regular Assembly meetings.
Committees
Finance, Governance, Development, and other standing or special committees carry out focused work. Committee participation can include voting members and non-voting volunteers.
